B – The Merchant’s suitcase
The Walser people were reknown for the sale of fabric. They travelled from place to place with a suitcase that contained samples of the ware they were selling and tended to travel mainly in Switzerland and the German-speaking areas in the Alps, as the language spoken by the Walser people derived from German. As you can see there are lots of pieces of coloured fabric in the suitcase. The customers decided what they liked and then ordered the amount they required.
